Marking its launch, Halfords’ Head of Trading Dave Poulter said: “TomTom has comprehensively redesigned its GO range and introduced user-friendly additions such as a screen that allows drivers to pinch and zoom in and out of maps in the same way would on a smartphone.
“Ahead of the main summer holidays we anticipate that maps which render buildings and landmarks in stunning 3D will be of particular interest to travellers, whilst additional features such a TomTom Speed Cameras will provide timely warnings that increase drivers’ awareness of local speed limits in unfamiliar areas.”
The new TomTom GO range has a simplified product line-up - enabling customers to select their preferred screen size (choosing from a 4.3”, 5” or 6” model) and then decide how they prefer to receive their TomTom Traffic information.
The products come with Lifetime TomTom Traffic, which pinpoints exactly where delays start and end and drivers can choose to connect to TomTom Traffic either via Smartphone Connected or Always Connected – helping them get to destinations faster.
Smartphone Connected devices are ready to receive TomTom Traffic by connecting to a smartphone* via BlueTooth®. Smartphone Connected uses an existing smartphone data plan to access TomTom Traffic, as well as other services like TomTom Speed Cameras.
Always Connected devices** offer the simplest way to receive TomTom Traffic straight out of the box. With connectivity built-in and with no additional costs for roaming, drivers can easily access TomTom Traffic and other services, including TomTom Speed Cameras, whenever needed.
“However, it’s important that customers understand the added benefits of the new TomTom GO range in order to make an informed decision about the functions they do and don’t require. Our trained store colleagues are able to provide guidance to customers on these new technologies in an accessible way.”
