NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 07/18/13 -- The CMO Club today announced that it has expanded its 2013 CMO of the Year Awards Program to include the first annual CMO Club Programmatic Marketing Award category, in partnership with DataXu. The new award will recognize brand marketing executives, who have demonstrated best in class, proven success using technology that leverages data science to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of digital marketing. The 2013 CMO Club Programmatic Marketing Award winner and three finalists will be honored and participate in the CMO of the Year Awards Dinner in New York City on November 12.

"Previously, marketing was viewed as an imprecise art more than a measurable, concrete science. Thanks to the advent of programmatic technologies, marketers can now use data and analytics to drive profitable engagement and respond in real-time to new marketing opportunities," said Mike Baker, CEO and co-founder, DataXu. "The result is a better understanding of customer needs, a more relevant experience throughout the buying journey and ultimately, improved ROI. The Programmatic Marketing Award honors those who have successfully transformed their marketing to keep pace with the ever changing digital consumer."

The nomination process is open to all qualifying brand marketing executives. From the nominations, three top finalists will be selected by The CMO Club's chapter presidents, and announced in August and September. The final winner will be decided by CMO Club members, along with the other CMO Annual Awards Program categories in October. The chapter presidents will evaluate and select finalists based on the innovative use of marketing technology to:

•Improve understanding of consumer behavior using data insights •Respond in real-time to new marketing opportunities •Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of customer acquisition strategies to increase ROI •Increase outcomes through new uses of technology

"It's an exciting time to be a CMO," said Pete Krainik, Founder, The CMO Club. "Though programmatic marketing is in its infancy, there's no denying the successes early adopters are realizing and the enormity of this wave of change. Due to the demand from our members to recognize this new way of marketing, The CMO Club Programmatic Marketing Award will celebrate the marketers that are transforming their people, processes and technologies to dramatically improve ROI. By having CMOs select the winners, these awards will truly reflect peer-based views on best in class CMOs."
