NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 07/17/13 -- Telx®, a leading provider of global interconnectivity, cloud enablement services and 100% Uptime SLA data centers, today announced its 20th data center strategically located at 32 Avenue of the Americas (6th Ave) in New York City. Telx's newest facility NYC3 brings the total number of Telx facilities within New York City to 3 and to a total of 6 within the greater NY/NJ metro area encompassing over 550,000 gross square feet.
The Rudin Family has chosen Telx as a long term strategic partner to exclusively manage and operate the HUB, the carrier-neutral meet me room at 32 Avenue of the Americas. Rudin's strategic vision created the HUB which aggregates voice, data and wireless service providers in a single network dense facility. Telx will assume exclusive operation of the HUB and will develop a new 10th floor data center with the opportunity for expansion onto multiple additional floors in the building. The Rudin Family, a multi-generational real estate organization and one of the leading real estate owners in Manhattan, with over 14 million square feet of property, has always been a technology leader within the community by providing high-quality real estate solutions to its customer base.
William Rudin noted that "We're proud to be partnering with Telx on this exciting and innovative venture at 32 Avenue of the Americas, which is widely acknowledged as among the world's most user-friendly centers for telecommunications, technology and media firms. This partnership further demonstrates 32 Avenue of the Americas and New York City as a technology and media center. As technology needs continue to grow in New York, the infrastructure will be there to meet the growing demands."
In partnership, the Rudins and Telx will continue to build on the successful creation of intra-facility ecosystems with flexible colocation solutions with a high quality of service. The building's existing 40+ key participants and 90+ network service providers has established the initial infrastructure to attract other Cloud & Service Providers. The establishment of NYC3 allows Telx to offer unparalleled levels of connectivity, resiliency and service throughout the New York metro with dominant assets in the three most sought after strategic locations for network connectivity in Manhattan.
NYC3's (32 Avenue of the Americas) Interconnection Center will leverage Telx's dense connectivity environments at both NYC1 (60 Hudson) and NYC2 (111 8th Ave) offering the collective Telx customer base access to over 600 network alternatives. In combination with Telx's Tier III Clifton, NJ campus, Telx will offer the most robust, connected and comprehensive set of data center solutions in the New York/New Jersey metro with significant capacity for customer growth requirements.
Highlights of Telx's NYC3 Facility:
•The agreement establishes an initial 72,000sf with additional opportunity for growth. •Telx to exclusively operate the MMR Interconnection facility within NYC3 and incorporates its interconnection portfolio of services along with tying all three Telx NYC metro facilities together via the Telx Metro Cross Connect network. •Telx adds "on" island diversity options for critical connectivity centric infrastructure and complements these options with "off" island cost-effective Tier III mission-critical environments outside the 500-year flood plain. •Exceptional line-of-sight advantages for point-to-point microwave data transmission. •Rudin can now leverage Telx's broad interconnection experience to the benefit of their customers.
"New York City has always been Telx's backyard, and although we have expanded throughout the country in recent years, we always remain focused on providing unparalleled network connectivity and datacenter solutions within the New York City metro area. The establishment of NYC3 at 32 Avenue of the Americas provides Telx's clients and prospects with a comprehensive connectivity solution and another option for expansion in New York City that is equal to the expertise and operational compliance that Telx delivers at NYC1 and NYC2," said Chris Downie, President and Chief Financial Officer for Telx. "We are thrilled to partner with the Rudin Family as a trusted New York owner on this exciting expansion and look forward to working together to provide high-level service to the global market and countless service providers and enterprises within the greater New York City metro area."
Telx's interactive Marketplace will incorporate Rudin's existing 32 Avenue of the Americas community to strengthen interconnection opportunities between NYC3 clients and the rest of Telx's five other New York/New Jersey regional facilities. In the months ahead, Telx will deploy its expertise and industry-leading procedures to enable the continued growth within NYC3 while allowing for client adherence to customized compliance requirements.
CBRE, Inc. (CBRE) represented Telx on the transaction, through a team led by Robert Meyers and Amanda Bokman. Robert Steinman, Vice President at Rudin Management Company, represented the building's ownership in-house on the transaction. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
