ANDOVER, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/15/13 -- Casa Systems, a worldwide leader in next-generation cable edge technology, announced today that it has won a sizeable order for its Integrated CCAP solution, with one of China's largest cable network operators, Guangzhou Digital Media Group (Guangzhou). With Casa's CCAP platform, Guangzhou will be able to offer highly scalable broadband services such as IPTV, MPEG video and interactive gaming, as well as traditional broadband access and VoIP services.
Guangzhou is China's sixth largest city with an estimated population of 12.7 million people, representing two million subscribers, including 165,000 broadband subscribers and 170,000 IPTV subscribers. Guangzhou has previously selected Casa's C10G platform to expand its broadband communications services.
"In choosing Casa Systems' Converged Cable Access Platform technology, we have identified a streamlined mechanism for delivering I-CCAP functionality at a reduced cost with greater scalability," said Liu Mingliang, VP of Guangzhou Digital Media Group. "We are eager to deploy this technology to deliver an improved customer experience which is made possible with Casa's industry-leading I-CCAP platform."
Casa demonstrated the superior capabilities of its I-CCAP technology against competing platforms during Guangzhou's highly-competitive vendor selection process, excelling in channel density, reliability and scalability. The Casa C10G platform enables MSOs to deploy DOCSIS, IPTV and MPEG video on a single chassis over a single port, and when combined with the DS8x96 module, it delivers the industry's highest I-CCAP density while having the lowest power consumption, significantly reducing operating costs.
"We are excited to begin the next chapter with Guangzhou Digital Media Group," said Jerry Guo, founder and CEO of Casa Systems. "Guangzhou is one of China's most successful cable TV operators and is poised to continue its significant growth by taking advantage of the density, reliability, scalability and service creation capabilities of our I-CCAP technology."
