NEW YORK, July 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- This Saturday, July 13, 2013, Houston families are invited to join TV host Karla Martinez, the Hispanic Dental Association (H.D.A.) and the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® mobile dental van at the following two Fiesta Mart locations to celebrate Colgate's Oral Health Month:
-- 12-2 pm CT: Fiesta Mart, 800 S. Wayside Drive, Houston, TX 77023
-- 4-6 pm CT: Fiesta Mart, 4711 Airline Drive, Houston, TX 77022
According to the H.D.A., nearly 40% of Hispanic adults live with untreated oral disease and twice as many Hispanic children are likely to have untreated cavities in comparison to non-Hispanic white children. "When working to eliminate oral health disparities in the community, the Hispanic Dental Association plays an essential role in breaking the language barriers between doctors and patients," says Dr. Alexandra Garcia, Houston-based H.D.A. member.
Attendees will be able to meet Karla Martinez and Dr. Garcia, receive Colgate Total® gift bags, enjoy music from 102.9 FM Estereo Latino, and take photos with live characters including Colgate's Dr. Muelitas and Fiesta Mart's Pepe the Parrot. Children ages 3-12 years can receive free dental screenings, treatment referrals (if needed), and learning materials.
Colgate's Oral Health Month 2013 is designed to encourage Hispanic families across the U.S. to take charge of oral health by pledging online to practice healthy habits at http://www.Colgate.com/OHM or by texting SONRIE + their city of residence to 24474.
