SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/01/13 -- Skout, the leading social media chat app, today announced the hiring of Vice President of Engineering Greg Burch. Burch, who will serve as Vice President of Engineering at Skout, will work alongside Skout CTO and co-founder Nik Lindstrom setting the strategic engineering direction and building on the amazing team, talents and resources already in place. "Greg is the perfect choice to help lead our team in the design, development, and rapid delivery on Skout's mission of building an international, multiplatform social network that changes the way people make new friends and communicate," said Lindstrom.
"We are thrilled to welcome Greg to the Skout team," said Christian Wiklund, CEO and co-founder of Skout. "Greg is a unique breed of engineer who possesses not only top-tier technical skills, but also a deep understanding of how technology can support the needs of the community. Greg has the experience of delivering creative innovation in the social media space, and will be integral in helping Skout deliver on our promise of creating a great place for folks to meet new people and have fun," said Wiklund. "Our team will now be able to move even faster in building exciting new features for our app while we continue our focus on quality, safety and of course creating excitement and engagement for our international community."
Burch comes to Skout from VMware where he was Vice President of Engineering at SlideRocket, which was acquired by VMware in 2011.
Prior to VMware/SlideRocket, Burch was an Architect who helped found the mobile team at Macromedia, later acquired by Adobe. Greg has had success advancing goals of key corporations (including VMware, Adobe, Intel, and Microsoft) and serving high-profile personalities (including Madonna, Kid Rock, and David Blaine). Additionally Greg is an award-winning patent holder and author / editor of several published works in the mobile space.
"I am excited to use my expertise in the mobile space and building scalable operations to help Skout move faster to create cool products that will continue to delight our community and expand and change the way people interact both online and off," said Burch. "Skout already reaches millions of people all over the globe -- we have endless opportunity to expand our service, and create amazing features that drive more folks to meet new people and increase our global presence," Burch said. "With that and a talented engineering team already in place, I would be crazy not to join!"
