TORONTO, June 5, 2013 /CNW/ - The much anticipated worldwide premiere screening of Real Gangsters this past weekend at the Hoboken International Film Festival opened to a nearly sold out crowd and thunderous applause.
Real Gangsters is a new-style, realistic mob film, starring: ROBERT LOGGIA (Academy Award & Emmy nominee; Scarface, Independence Day, Big); STEVEN BAUER (Golden Globe nominee; Scarface, Raising Cain); JOHN SAVAGE (The Deer Hunter, Hair); MARGOT KIDDER (Superman movies, The Amityville Horror); NICK MANCUSO (Under Siege, Ticket to Heaven); MICHAEL PARE (Eddie and the Cruisers, Streets of Fire); ROBERT MANGIARDI (Death of a President); JOHNNY WILLIAMS (Goodfellas). This film also introduces FRANK D'ANGELO who not only created, wrote and directed the film, but proved to be one of the many highlights of the night. As he held an impromptu autograph session where he signed autographs for adoring fans.
"Real Gangsters attracted one of the three largest crowds at Hoboken International Film Festival this year--and there are nearly 150 movies in the festival. Our 1,100 seat Paramount Theater was nearly sold out for this screening. D'Angelo's storytelling and acting weren't his only hit with HIFF audiences. His original music also garnered great applause from the large festival audience," says Kenneth Del Vecchio, Chairman, Hoboken International Film Festival.
Real Gangsters tells the story of the Lo Giacamo family, one of the most successful crime syndicates in New York City. Run by cousins Vincent and Jack Lo Giacamo, Real Gangsters shows how these two men maintain control of their dangerous extended family and volatile business ventures by very different means. Vincent is the politician, the man who always has a plan to help keep the peace, find common ground, and bind blood and commerce to grow the family into a billion dollar empire. Jack is the muscle; the hot head, ruthless and uncompromising he lives in the moment and executes his actions based on how he feels. Unfortunately for these two men, these two philosophies don't always work together.
"If you love mob movies, this is a must see film" says Frank D'Angelo, "Real Gangsters is an adrenalin rush. A constant roller coaster ride of classic crime, class acts, and the thrill that comes from living life on the edge, one day at a time, when at any moment you may have to put your life on the line to serve and protect the family".
Real Gangsters will hit the international film festival circuit this year with the premiere Canadian screening at the Italian Contemporary Film Festival in Toronto on June 30, 2013 - 9:00 pm at the TIFF Bell Lightbox Theatre and the Action On Film Festival in Pasadena, California August 16-20, 2013.
