A CHELMSFORD pub will play host to Edinburgh Festival favourites when they perform their brand new full-length comedy shows next month.
The Admiral J McHardy in Arbour Lane, which was formerly The Alma, have invited some of the UK's top talent to take to the stage to preview their new material on July 4, 11, 18 and 25.
The organisers, Comedy Showcase, have booked a high calibre of acts to entertain the crowds, hand-picking the best comedians from the circuit to warm up on a Chelmsford audience before the festival. The pub's landlord, Stewart Walsh, 34, said: We're really looking forward to it as we've got some exciting, big name comedians.
Essex native Terry Alderton (Live at the Apollo and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow) will give a laugh-a-minute performance of his battle with two hilarious conflicting voices in his head.
Experimental Terry will be joined by American stand-up comedian and Perrier Award winner Scott Capurro, Bridget Christie of BBC Radio 4's Bridget Christie Minds the Gap, experimental stand-up comic Simon Munnery and famed comedy rocker Mitch Benn, who is well- known for his contributions to BBC Radio 4's The Now Show.
Over the four dates there will also be performances from Romesh Ranganathan (Russell Howard's Good News), Norwegian comic and Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Daniel Simonsen, and comedian, writer and actor Hal Cruttenden whose previous credits include Michael McIntyre's Comedy Road Show and Live at the Apollo. Comedy Showcase promoter Ben Cormack said: I'm very excited to bring my favourite acts from the Edinburgh Fringe to Chelmsford and I feel that the diversity of these shows will really capture the exciting atmosphere of the fest.
It's an eclectic mix but with acts of this calibre, from established comedy legends to the most thrilling up-and-coming comedians, I'm sure these shows will be nothing short of amazing.
Each show will begin at 8pm and will comprise of two acts performing for an hour. All tickets are Pounds 8 and can be purchased from www.comedyshowcase.co.uk
