WILMINGTON, DE -- (Marketwired) -- 06/25/13 -- Vector Marketing Corporation awarded the Top Marketing Project to the University of Georgia's Gamma Chapter at the recent Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) national sales conference held April 2 - 7 in San Diego, California. Vector Marketing is the single-level direct sales division of Cutco Cutlery Corporation, the largest manufacturer of high-end kitchen cutlery in North America. PSE is the only national collegiate professional, co-educational fraternity for marketing, sales, and management.
The Top Marketing Project Award is presented to the PSE chapter that most successfully created or implemented a marketing campaign for either their chapter or a professional partner in a structured and analytical manner through effective planning, marketing research, performance and evaluation.
University of Georgia's Gamma Chapter created a marketing program for the university's student-run rodeo, the Great Southland Stampede Rodeo. Founded in 1970 and certified as a professional rodeo in 1974, the rodeo suffered from a dire lack of attendance and was facing a shutdown. PSE's Gamma Chapter organized a team that identified the shortfalls in the rodeo's marketing program and created, planned and implemented a plan to boost awareness. The plan included a mix of radio advertising, social media, flyers and other creative efforts to reach out to both the university and the surrounding Athens, Georgia community.
"In 2011, the year prior to contacting us, the rodeo made a profit of $2,000," said Allie Merdinger, a member of the Gamma Chapter and advertising chair for the rodeo. "We increased their 2012 profits to more than $34,000."
