"I thought she was going to die. ... As far as I was concerned, patient plus cancer equals death. But my wife is a very strong woman."

Ozzy Osbourne, to Classic Rock magazine, that he feared his wife, Sharon Osbourne, would die during her colon cancer battle in 2002,UK cops look into choke pics,British police said June 17 that they are investigating newspaper photos that show Nigella Lawson's husband, Charles Saatchi, with his hands around the celebrity chef's throat.

The pictures drew widespread condemnation after they were published by the Sunday People tabloid. The paper said the images were taken during an argument at a London restaurant on June 9.

Nigella's spokesman, Mark Hutchinson, declined to comment on the images. But Charles, Britain's best-known art collector, told London's Evening Standard newspaper that the pictures misrepresented a "playful tiff."

Charles, an Evening Standard columnist, said "the pictures are horrific but give a far more drastic and violent impression of what took place."

"About a week ago, we were sitting outside a restaurant having an intense debate about the children, and I held Nigella's neck repeatedly while attempting to emphasize my point," he was quoted as saying. "There was no grip, it was a playful tiff."

The 70-year-old said the couple "had made up by the time we were home."

Charles said after the story broke June 16, he had advised Nigella to leave the couple's London home with their children "until the dust settled."

Charles and Nigella married in 2003 and live in London with Nigella's son and daughter from her marriage to journalist John Diamond, who died of cancer in 2001, and Charles' daughter from a previous marriage.

London police said it had not received a criminal complaint about the incident, and "inquiries are in hand to establish the facts" in order to assess whether a formal investigation was necessary.

In Britain, a complaint from the victim is not necessary to lay assault charges if there is enough evidence from witnesses.

Nigella, 53, gained fame with her 1998 best-seller "How To Eat" and is one of Britain's best-known cookbook writers, as well as the host of foodie TV shows including "Nigella Bites" and ABC's cooking program "The Taste."

Charles, co-founder of the Saatchi & Saatchi ad agency, owns one of London's biggest private art galleries. He was the main patron of the Young British Artists movement of the 1990s, which made household names of artists including Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.

-- Associated Press,Ryan: Bring back Simon!

Ryan Seacrest would love a reunion.

The "American Idol" host told "Access Hollywood" that he would enjoy seeing former judge and one of the show's co-creators Simon Cowell back in the judges' chair.

"To have a chance to spar with him again, on live national television, would be heaven. I would love it," Ryan said.

The Fox hit is looking ahead to some major changes next season -- not only are judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey leaving, but so is Randy Jackson -- the one remaining original judge.

Fox also replaced producers Ken Warwick and Nigel Lythgoe with Per Blankens. Per found success with the Swedish version of the show.

Ryan said he would enjoy the show better if there were only three judges next season.

"I mean, look, when we had four it was fine. My opinion would be three," he said.

"It makes for a faster-moving show. Of course, they don't really care what I think, but I think three would make for a faster-moving show."

Those celebs rumored to be replacement judges next season include "Idol" season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson, "Idol" season 3 contestent Jennifer Hudson and "Idol" seasons 10-11 judge Jennifer Lopez.

The show is set to return to Fox in early 2014.

-- Robin Adams Sloan, King Features Syndicate,Miguel inviting lawsuit over fan's injury

The lawyer for a woman whom Miguel landed on during a leap while performing at the Billboard Music Awards says his client continues to suffer cognitive difficulties and hasn't received any help from the R&B artist.

Vip Bhola represents 21-year-old Khyati Shah, whose head was pushed into a stage when Miguel leaped onto a platform during last month's awards show.

Bhola says representatives for Miguel and the awards show are practically daring him to sue them over the incident. He says he has been unable to obtain information about whether Miguel's leap was a planned jump or a spontaneous flourish while he performed his hit song "Adorn."

Miguel's representatives have said they reached out to Bhola and the singer remains concerned about Shah's well-being.
