TODAY the Lyric is lively with more than 15 schools in attendance. Hundreds of primary schoolchildren and their teachers are preparing to be blown away with the colourful Welsh language show Cerdyn Post o Wlad y Rwla presented by Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch.

This Friday at our Oriel Circle Bar, the monthly Cabaret Coch Cymru Comedy Club takes place.

Come and see Irish comedian Andrew Stanley, South Wales's very own Wes Packer plus host Clint Edwards. Having performed worldwide at the Montreal, Australian and Edinburgh Comedy Festivals and becoming a regular fixture on the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Calendar, Andrew Stanley is one of the top comics working the worldwide comedy circuit today.

Hot off the press ... this autumn I am excited to announce that we are extending our Cabaret Coch Cymru Comedy Club's to our Miners' Theatre in Ammanford. This autumn you can now enjoy the up and coming talent from the comedy circuit at all three of our venues.

This Monday the Cabaret Coch Cymru Film Club is back and this time we are showing Quartet certificate 12A. Hollywood great Dustin Hoffman makes his directorial debut with this comedy drama that counts some of Britain's best-loved actors amongst its cast. Set in a home for retired opera singers, Quartet follows Wilf, Reggie and Cissy as they plan their annual fundraising concert and the disharmony that occurs when temperamental former opera superstar Jean Horton suddenly takes up residence in their happy home.

Based on Ronald Harwood's stage play of the same name, Quartet is a wickedly comic film about redefining old age and growing old with hope; demonstrating how art illuminates life and the human spirit remains undimmed even as the brightest stars start to fade. With actress Maggie Smith's performance being nominated for a 2013 Golden Globe for Best Actress (Comedy or Musical), this is sure to be a film not to miss.

As a final reminder, today's your last chance to book Theatrau Sir Gar's free shuttle bus service to take you to see Ballet Cymru's extraordinary adaptation of Shakespeare's masterpiece Romeo a Juliet at the Ffwrnes, Llanelli.

Look forward to meeting you soon.
