WILMINGTON, DE -- (Marketwired) -- 06/18/13 -- Linda Price, Ph.D., department head and Underwood Family Professor of Marketing in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, became the most recent recipient of the prestigious Cutco/Vector Distinguished Marketing Award for Lifetime Contributions to Marketing Scholarship, endowed by Vector Marketing Corporation. The award was presented at the 42 Annual Academy of Marketing Science (AMS) Conference held May 15-18 in Monterey Bay, California. Vector Marketing is the single-level direct sales division of Cutco Cutlery Corporation. Founded in 1949, Cutco is the largest manufacturer of high-end kitchen cutlery in North America.
The Distinguished Marketing Educator Award recognizes lifetime contributions to marketing scholarship through teaching, research and mentorship of the next generation of marketing scholars.
"Everyone at Cutco/Vector is honored to add this award to the many recognitions and honors Linda has received for her important contributions to marketing science," said Helen Brown, Vector Marketing Corporation's academic outreach manager. "Recipients of this award are those who are changing the way we do science in marketing, and that certainly describes Linda. She has published books, chapters and over 70 articles that have collectively garnered over 7,000 citations. She has also mentored many Ph.D. students who are now leading marketing scholars in universities around the world," Brown said.
"I am honored that an organization I'm just delighted and proud to be a member of has singled me out for this recognition," said Price. "I'm in awe to be included in the list of people who have received this award, many of whom are significant mentors and guides to me, and all of whom I admire greatly. To be put in their company reminds me of how much more I hope to accomplish to be worthy of this honor."
"Cutco/Vector has long been a staunch supporter of teaching and learning. When the company endowed this award, the intent was to honor only the best in our marketing profession. Linda Price clearly is one of the very best teachers and scholars," said Victoria Crittenden, president of the AMS. "Not only is Linda's research world renowned, she is a truly caring and concerned mentor to her students and colleagues. Linda embodies many of the qualities that I think of when I think of Cutco/Vector."
