Offering a torrent of mind-expanding ideas and information The Lottery of Birth is going to make you think again about what it means to be free. Drawing on the best minds in philosophy, history, psychology, physics and economics, it employs decades of evidence to interrogate what we are, where we are and where we want to be. Oscar winning actor Colin Firth said of The Lottery of Birth: "I was quite blown away. A lot of bracing, tangential and uncomfortable thought--looks and sounds beautiful."

The Lottery of Birth comes fresh from its success on the festival circuit where it played to sold out audiences internationally, was nominated for Best Documentary at the Raindance Film Festival and won the Spirit Award at the Los Angeles Artivist Film Festival.

"The Lottery of Birth was perfect for us in launching our new digital platform with, because both the film and our mission are based on questioning the current societal constraints," says Sol Tryon, Partner at Mangu.tv and Mangusta Productions. "From birth onwards our minds are a battleground of competing forces. The outcome of this battle determines the society we create," says Raoul Martinez. Joshua Van Praag adds, "This is a film about the cultural, educational, political and commercial forces that shape our identities, often in ways that limit both our personal and political freedom."

The Lottery of Birth will run for a week at the IFP reRun Theater in DUMBO, Brooklyn from Friday, June 21 through Thursday, June 27. Each screening night will feature a filmmakers Q&A session or a conversation led by a guest speaker. The filmmakers will be in attendance each day of the run. The film will also receive a UK theatrical release with Curzon cinemas in the Fall of 2013.
