CHCC Celebrates Its 35th Anniversary

May 7, 2013

The California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC), an organization for promoting the development of Hispanic entrepreneurs and emerging Latino businesses in California, announced it will hold its annual state convention in Oakland from Aug. 14-16 at the Oakland City Centre Marriott.

This year's convention theme, "A Legacy of Leadership: Building America's Business Future," will celebrate the history of CHCC leadership, reflect on past accomplishments as well as promote the growth of Hispanic enterprises in California and their contributions to the state economy, according to a release.

The three-day convention is being produced by LatinPointe, whose past gigs include the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Conference & Gala, LULAC National Convention and the Tejano Music National Convention.

"We are excited to bring the largest gathering of California business leaders to Oakland for our historic 35th year celebration," Ernie Gutierrez, CHCC chairman, said in a statement. "We appreciate the warm welcome Oakland city officials have given us, as well as their enthusiasm for promoting Latino businesses."

The convention will bring more than 3,000 entrepreneurs, small business advocates and corporate representatives together. Session topics will focus on small businesses, Latina-owned businesses and the importance of corporate partnerships. A business expo and Latina Pavilion to showcase Latino businesses from throughout the state will be open to the public.

Mark Martinez, CHCC president and CEO, said the conference will recognize the accomplishments of Hispanic enterprises while equipping business owners with information for growth.

"Our goal is to provide attendees with useful information and networking opportunities for their businesses," said James Duran, chair of the 2013 Convention. "We also believe it's important to recognize and celebrate the great contributions Latino businesses are making in this state. We are looking forward to a great event as we celebrate the chamber's 35th year."

The CHCC has a network of more than 65 Hispanic chambers and business associations throughout California and represents the interest of over 700,000 Hispanic entrepreneurs in the state.
