HERE'S a few 'pointers' as to why that Bootylicious babe of the music world, Beyonce can lay claim to be the biggest solo female performer around.

Her talents as a mega hit making pop superstar with a stunning mezzo soprano range are indisputable when you hear hits such as Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), Irreplaceable and the truly exhilarating Crazy In Love.

Also not in doubt is the Houston, Texas born woman's barrier breaking successes in the worlds of production, acting and business.

But beautiful Beyonce knows how to court controversy too -- and photos of her new sexy stage costumes for the current Mrs Carter Show World Tour have grabbed prime slots in newspapers and telly shows around the world.

This eye catching, jaw dropping Swarovski crystal encrusted body suit is one of the most memorable pieces of stage gear to be worn by any mainstream performer in recent years.

Designed to give the illusion that she is naked with honey poured over her, it seems as if Beyonce is displaying her breasts.

Of course it's not a real Janet Jackson 'nipplegate' shock saga. But Beyonce surely is supremely aware of the publicity this hand sewn jewelled bustier suit created as she started her fourth solo tour in far away Serbia last month.

There's certainly something very intriguing about Beyonce.

On the one hand, she's a God fearing bible reading good girl who recently angered feminists by using her 'Mrs Carter' married name for her 2013 world tour.

On the other hand, she shakes her booty onstage in such an uninhibited, frenzied fashion which makes Madonna seem like a shrinking Mother Superior by comparison!

Of course, if Beyonce was just all shock and awe superficiality, she wouldn't have lasted the course.

However, since first emerging with the girl band, Destiny's Child in 1998, Beyonce's creative ingenuity -- writing and producing the majority of her albums has shown her to be one of the major soul- pop performances of her generation.

She ended her last world tour in November 2009 in Belfast with a show which needed some serious reining in -- as it threatened to suffocate itself under an ugly series of irony free self-glorifying set pieces.

Hopefully, marriage, motherhood and mind broadening private world travel jaunts will have taken some of the air out of that rather inflated Beyonce ego balloon.

The current 24-strong set list is a crowd pleasing selection of classic Beyonce hits -- with only a smattering of new songs from her yet to be released fifth solo album.

Her 65-date European trek including two Dublin shows sold out in a record breaking few minutes. In 2013, Beyonce can surely claim that girls like her 'Run The World' of pop.

? Beyonce plays two sold-out shows at the O2, Dublin this Saturday and on Sunday May 12.
