May 23--Tickets to all 2013 upcoming acts in the Culpeper State Theatre go on sale to the public today at 10 a.m.
Just three weeks after the historic live arts venue reopened, the diverse program keeps rolling.
Highlights of today's pre-sale include:
-- Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes performs summer party music July 12 at 8 p.m. The Jersey Shore based band formed in the '70s on the heels of Bruce Springsteen with early songs written by Steven Van Zandt and Bruce himself. Rolling Stone Magazine named their 1982 album Hearts of Stone among the top 100 albums of the 70s and 80s.
-- Route 66: Finding Nat King Cole , a one-man show featuring Dr. Jeff Obafemi Carr, comes to the State Theatre Sept. 6 for an 8 p.m. show. Carr brings to life the music and memory of the great Nat King Cole (1919-1965), a jazz pianist best known for his soft baritone vocals and hit singles like "Mona Lisa."
-- The Second City brings its Chicago-style comedy to the State Theatre Sept. 20 for an 8 p.m. show specializing in sketch comedy and improv.'
-- The Official Blues Brothers Revue performs its sidesplitting magic Sept. 26 at the State Theatre, and it will be what one expects -- a tribute to the iconic characters created by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. Produced by Judy Belushi Pisano and Aykroyd, the Revue pays homage to Chicago's rich history of blues, soul music and gospel in the spirit of Jake and Elwood Blues.
-- An Evening with Julie Fowlis Music of the Scottish Isles is October 27 at 8 p.m. A native of Scotland, Fowlis is a proud standard bearer for Gaelic music and was recently featured on Disney.Pixar's Brave .

On the National Register of Historic Places, the 560-seat State Theatre originally opened in 1938 as a Pitts Theater, and is the town's only example of art deco architecture. Following a two-decade lull in public access and a $9.3 million rehab and expansion, the 75-year-old new and improved venue reopened as a live arts center May 4 with Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby.
