The Picture House launches ; With a new digital projector the Cramphorn Theatre in Chelmsford is offering screenings of classic films as well as ballet and opera
TO celebrate the installation of the brand new state-of-the-art digital film projection equipment at Chelmsford's Cramphorn Theatre, a fresh new identity has been launched to mark the exciting change to the cinema.
The Chelmsford Picture House will be bringing the very best in film to the big screen, as well as an exciting series of screenings that will include spectacular performances from the world of ballet, opera and more.
There is a wide selection of films from black and white classics and Hollywood blockbusters to world and arthouse in every season of films.
This season sees the introduction of special events that feature two stage-on-screen performances that were filmed at the Royal Opera House.
The Royal Ballet Dances Frederick Ashton (July 17) sees The Royal Ballet perform a programme of short ballets created by its founding choreographer, Frederick Ashton and will offer audiences a great alternative to view live ballet for a fraction of the stage ticket price. Teeming with life and colour, David McVicar's production of Rigoletto (July 22) provides the perfect frame for Verdi's tragic opera and an exclusive opportunity to see this world class opera exploring love, betrayal and darkest revenge. These screenings mark the start of many more special events in the future.
Oscar winning silent movie The Artist (June 28) is amongst the strong line-up of films this season. As is Danish film The Hunt (June 4) starring Mads Mikkelson as a school teacher whose life is turned upside down by a little white lie told by a little girl. My Week With Marilyn ( June 11) is the true story taken from the diary of a young boy who falls in love with one of the world's biggest movie stars. And an all-star cast features in The Paperboy (July 26). The film, adapted from best-selling Pete Dexter's book, stars Zac Eron, Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman and John Cusack.
