Inception Media Group, a diversified media company specializing in the production, acquisition and distribution of entertainment content, announced it has acquired North American rights from Levity Entertainment Group (LEG) to distribute African American, a live stand-up performance from Trevor Noah, a South African comedian.
According to a release, Noah was discovered by LEG while touring South Africa with their client, the top selling and multi-talented Jeff Dunham. Noah made his national television debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in January of 2012 and is now performing his live one-man show Trevor Noah: Born a Crime at Culture Project at 45 Bleecker Street in New York City for a four week run which began May 15. African American will debut on Showtime in July followed by Inception's home video and digital release in August.
The company aid Noah has sold more DVDs than any other stand-up on the African continent. Fans recite his performances verbatim, share his clips globally and have joined him in legions on Facebook and Twitter. Noah has hosted numerous television shows in South Africa, including the country's music, television and film awards, the South African Comedy Festival and two seasons of his own late night talk show. He has also toured the United States with Gabriel Iglesias. His performances have wowed audiences in London and he was recently lauded with praise during appearances at the Edinburg Festival in Scotland where he was presented by Eddie Izzard.
