The world premiere of the feature film "The Dark Party" is happening on both East and West Coasts on May 30. This will mark the directorial debut of Kadeem Hardison, who is well known especially for his endearing role as Dwayne Wayne on the Cosby Show spin-off, A Different World.
Hardison has the starring role of Jeff and is also the screenplay's co-writer along with the movie's executive producer, Salenta Baisden and producers Terry Wilkerson and William Wells. The movie also stars Marcus Patrick, as Mike, Eric Payne, Iva La'Shawn, Tiffany Hines, Nydia McFadden, Lea Foster, Michael Ralph and Tyrone Batista with a few other well know faces like Dwayne Wayne's sidekick, "Ron", Daryl M. Bell. Producer Deji LaRay and Alex Lehmann, director of photography, also had a hand in creating the digitally mastered film that features a musical underscore by Edward Baisden, Jr. and Asi Friedman with songs written and performed by Niles RIvers.
Williams Wells is credited for this brilliant story of Mike and Jeff, two friends who want to find true love. The two come to the conclusion that what you can't see can hurt you as they look for love in all the wrong faces. With the aid of a talk radio psychologist Theo Radcliffe (aka DJ Dr. Love) they throw the ultimate blind date party that soon becomes a serious social experiment. Amid all the fun and games lurks a killer who's dead set on eliminating one of the players.
Baisden is very excited about finally releasing the movie to the public, especially after the glowing reception that it received during the American Black Film Festival last July in Miami. She is also excited because the movie will be available in wide release on DVD very shortly after the limited theatrical release thanks to an agreement between BrighteStar Productions Inc. in Los Angeles, CA, Music Access Inc. in Dallas, TX and Rescue Entertainment in Atlanta, GA.
