Vouchers Available for Free Concert

May 10, 2013

Online tickets for the free show by white-hot hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and rising star and Wisconsin native Skylar Grey at Turner Hall Ballroom on Sunday night were snapped up quickly Thursday, but ticket vouchers for the concert are still available.

On Saturday, Yahoo marketers will be giving away vouchers at the Alterra shop at 170 S. 1st St. from noon to 1:30 p.m. and at La Coppa Artisan Gelato at the Bayshore Town Center, 5675 N. Bayshore Drive, Glendale, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

You can't simply show up and expect a voucher. To receive one, you will have to show off your "Yahoo! pride" somehow, according to a news release, such as by downloading the Flickr or Yahoo Weather apps.

Each voucher may be redeemed for two tickets, but they don't guarantee that you'll see the show. Tickets will be issued Sunday at Turner Hall on a first-come, first-served basis, and once the venue hits capacity, further vouchers will not be accepted for tickets. The doors open at 8 p.m. Sunday, but it's probably a good idea to get there earlier.

Sunday's show is part of the Yahoo On the Road traveling music series. Other acts performing in other cities include the Lumineers, fun., John Legend and Fall Out Boy.

Those who can't attend will still be able to watch a live stream of the concert on the Yahoo On the Road website.

Sunday's show will cap off a tremendous week for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who made Billboard history by being the only duo whose first two singles -- "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold Us" -- hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts. It's the first act to accomplish this feat since Lady Gaga's one-two punch with "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" in 2009.

Grey, meanwhile, is planning to release her first full-length album, "Don't Look Down," on July 7 for Interscope Records after earning Grammy nominations for her work cowriting one of Eminem's biggest hits, "Love the Way You Lie," and appearing on Dr. Dre's track "I Need a Doctor."
