CINCINNATI, OH -- (Marketwired) -- 05/10/13 -- Ohio National Financial Services is pleased to announce the election of a distinguished veteran of the life insurance industry to the Board of Directors of The Ohio National Life Insurance Company and Ohio National Financial Services, Inc.

Gary Wendlandt, FSA, MAAA, the retired Chief Investment Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board of New York Life Insurance Company, was elected at today's Ohio National Board of Directors meeting.

During his career with New York Life, Wendlandt held additional corporate-level positions, including Senior Executive Vice President for Finance and Investments, and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of New York Life Investment Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance company. Previous to his service at New York Life, Wendlandt spent nearly three decades of his financial services career at MassMutual Life Insurance Company where he advanced to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer following service as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
