LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 04/09/13 -- PKR Live, flagship tournament series of next-gen poker room PKR.com, returned last weekend at Aspers Stratford with a record field of 291 runners and a prize pool of $130,950. After three grueling days of action it was Frenchman Yann Pelletier who emerged as champion, collecting a timely cheque for $27,620 two days before his 32nd birthday.
For Pelletier, who plays on www.pkr.fr under the username 'keefkeef', it was the second biggest cash of his career so far, behind a EUR69,500 runner-up finish in a 2010 FPS main event. The Frenchman has played on PKR since September 2010 and is one of the poker room's most popular and successful Gallic stars.
"Winning this event was a truly amazing feeling" he said. "Only live poker can make you feel this way. It actually balances out all the frustration accumulated by playing tournaments with no success in the past. Winning PKR Live is definitely one of the best moments I've ever had. In the context and with the enthusiastic support from other French players on the rail, all the ingredients combined to sear this moment into my memory. I can almost say I've learnt poker on PKR. I feel at home on the site, as at PKR Live, and I've had the chance to meet some people that I consider true friends."
CEO Malcolm Graham is pleased at the response to PKR's latest live adventure. "PKR Live epitomises what we're about - top class poker in a sociable setting. With a superb venue such as Aspers and our biggest field so far, PKR Live is back with a bang."
