MIAMI BEACH, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 04/08/13 -- Hispanicize 2013 (http://www.HispanicizeEvent.com) (#Hispz13), the annual Latino trends and newsmaker event for social media, blogging, media, advertising, PR and film, is about to get even more colorful this year.
Sherwin-Williams is sponsoring Colores Latinos; Artistas Latinos, which will feature four renowned muralists: Diana Contreras (www.dianacontreras.com), Juan Diaz (www.juandiazart.com), Luis Valle (www.valleart.net) and Chor Boogie (www.ChorBoogie.com). Each artist will "live paint" at a special art installation set up at the Eden Roc starting Tuesday, April 9 through Friday, April 12, during Hispanicize.
The finished pieces will be sold through a silent auction with proceeds going to the nonprofit Latino educational advocacy group Aspira of Florida. A distinguished jury including Hispanicize Founder and Creative Director Manny Ruiz, Bravo Reality Star Adriana De Moura (Real Housewives of Miami) and Sonia Velásquez, host of Extreme Makeover Home Edition Latin America, will judge the finished pieces at a special ceremony on Saturday, April 13.
"We are excited to bring the most brilliant muralists to Hispanicize and have them showcase products like our Emerald Paint line and Purdy brushes and accessories at one of the highest profile Latino events of the year," says Jason Riveiro, multicultural marketing manager at Sherwin-Williams Paint Stores Group. "This is a dynamic way to demonstrate our quality products and our wide-range of color selections."
Sonia Velásquez will also be joining Riveiro throughout the week as a special guest, along with serving on the jury for the art installation, she will be a highly visible participant in other Sherwin-Williams activities during the week. Beyond serving as host of Extreme Makeover Home Edition Latin America, Velásquez is well-known in Latin America as la periodista filantrópica ("the philanthropic journalist") for her fierce commitment to social justice.
Sherwin-Williams worked with Miami arts promoter and journalist Susana Baker and her "Murals for Morale" project to execute and curate the event. "This project has been a labor of love. These artists have painted at venues all over the world with Chor Boogie painting murals in Beijing during the 2008 Summer Olympics Games," says Baker. "With so much happening today for Latino artists, Sherwin-Williams is the perfect sponsor to make this all happen on Miami Beach."
