STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN -- (Marketwired) -- 04/30/13 -- Panopticon Software, the leading provider of visual data discovery and analysis software for real-time, CEP and historical time series data, today announced it has been named a "Cool Vendor" in the Cool Vendors for In-Memory Computing 2013 report (Roy Schulte, Roxane Edjlali, et al.) by Gartner, Inc.
Panopticon is a particularly good fit for "Big Data" environments that incorporate in-memory technologies as key components. Panopticon's visual data discovery capabilities allow people to use their intuition to find meaningful -- and actionable -- information in all the data that is available to them, including real-time streaming feeds from in-memory storage systems as well as message buses and CEP engines.
In the new Cool Vendor report, Gartner recommends that companies adopt IMC application infrastructure technology, even from small vendors, to address advanced requirements such as distributed, high-scale transaction processing, analytics on fast-changing data and real-time visualization of data "in motion." In addition, the report notes that small, focused companies are the primary providers of innovation in IMC, even with technically excellent offerings, they find it difficult to emerge from their geographical or vertical niches because the rhetoric from the large vendors overwhelms their value propositions.
Willem De Geer, Managing Director for Panopticon, said, "We agree with Gartner's contention that in-memory will be a defining trend in the coming few years, especially in the context of Big Data projects. Our large banking customers, including JP Morgan, Citi and Credit Suisse, are all making in-memory technology a critical part of their infrastructures for monitoring and analyzing risk and performance as well as detecting anomalous trading activity. Being named a Gartner Cool Vendor honors our commitment to our customers as they move into these new deployments."
