OMAHA, NE -- (Marketwired) -- 04/03/13 -- There are numerous means through which economic growth is stimulated and jobs are created -- and according to Transwood, Inc., the establishment of a trucking center is one of them. The Omaha-based carrier company points to a recent article, highlighting the actions of trucking company Southeastern Freight Line. Though Southeastern is based in South Carolina, it has recently opened its second service facility, based in Houston -- and with it, the company has brought numerous jobs to the area. Transwood, Inc. has weighed in on this story with a statement to the press.
"This ultimately stands as proof of how vital the trucking industry is in facilitating economic growth," says the new statement from Transwood, Inc. "Yes, trucking is essential for connecting manufacturers and consumers, but it also creates jobs and stimulates robust economic growth. Thus, the opening of a trucking center can prove a boon to any city or region!"
Certainly, it has proven a boon to the people of Houston. The establishment of the Southeastern Freight Line facility brought with it more than 100 new jobs. The company now has a total of 80 service centers, spread across 12 states as well as Puerto Rico.
But jobs were not the only assets brought to Houston by Southeastern Freight Lines. The company also brought with it green technology. Included among this technology is a field of solar panels, which will generate approximately a third of the facility's total power. Additionally, the center uses a 10,000-gallon rainwater collection mechanism, which will help with the conservation of water.
The impetus for a second Houston center stems from the double-digit shipment growth the company has seen in the area, every year for nearly a decade.
"This is an example of a trucking company that has obviously proven successful, and it is not difficult to see why -- or to see that the company's success is an advantage to everyone in the area," opines Transwood, Inc. "Southeastern is showing the world that, in the trucking industry, environmental and 'green' concerns are hardly taken for granted. At the same time, the company is showing that going green and succeeding as a business are hardly mutually exclusive! It is helping the environment, it is adding jobs, and it is continuing to thrive and to develop as a business -- a great example for all of us."
