Beatbox artist with the world at his feet ; Lippicool NOTTINGHAM SOUNDHis track Bring Back Them Times is currently being played on the BBC 1Xtra playlist. Laura Bennett finds out more about musician and actor Lippicool

I WOULD rather write 64 bars of lyrics that would entice an entire generation than write 640 words on law that would probably bore even the tutor that was marking it. If you don't love something you do, don't do it.

So days Lippicool, who at the age of 20, quit his degree at university to concentrate on music.

Since then, the rapper, beatboxer and musician has performed at Glastonbury, V and Global Gathering, appeaS red alongside the likes of Akon, The Game and Tinie Tempah, and made videos with JLS, Ms Dynamite and Kano.

This week, BBC 1 Xtra put his latest single, Bring Back Them Times, on its playlist.

What does Lippicool mean? When I was younger it was hard to think of a name for me musically so due to the fact I was beatboxing and someone said I had cool lips, I put it together as Lippicool.

What style of music do you make? It ranges from mellow, acoustic tracks to electro house club songs.

Who are your biggest influences? My main influence would be Michael Jackson but, regarding music, I would say artists like Maverick Sabre and The Weeknd.

What have been your favourite shows so far? Supporting artists like Friendly Fires and Shy FX at Global Gathering and V Festival.

Also, being on stage watching Ed Sheeran's whole set.

The festival experience was amazing. I want to do it every year until I can't perform no more. Waking up at 4am to get on three to four different trains to a huge field somewhere in the UK every week is so exciting.

Any claims to fame? I've been in films like This is England and TV drama Murphy's Law. I've also appeared in adverts for Blackberry, Kit Kat and 3 Mobile.

Where is your music on sale? It's on iTunes, Amazon, Juno Download and many others. Just search Lippi. To find out more go to
