U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa Wednesday accused the Obama administration of covering up its failures in Benghazi, Libya, as he announced a new round of hearings.

The California Republican said the Democratic president's administration gave "free passes to senior officials who bungled their responsibilities," The Hill reported.

"Next month, the Oversight Committee will convene a hearing on the Benghazi terrorist attacks to examine evidence that Obama administration officials have attempted to suppress information about errors and reckless misjudgments," Issa said. "The American people still don't have the full truth about what happened both before and after the murders of four brave Americans."

Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other U.S. citizens died in the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.

A report released Tuesday by five House committees involved in investigating Benghazi accuses Hillary Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time, of mismanagement and of attempting a coverup.
