LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 04/24/13 -- Norwegian's 'Norwegian Breakaway' - spring 2013
The 4,000+ passenger vessel is the first of two 'Project Breakaway' cruise ships set to sail in the next two years. The largest ship under construction in Germany floated out from the Meyer Werft docks displaying her iconic hull artwork from top designer Peter Max.
The float out represents a major milestone on the way to her official christening by The Rockettes in New York on May 8th. New York will also be the embarkation point for her regular Caribbean cruise to Florida and Bermuda.
The 144,017 gross ton vessel will feature a rich cabin mix including luxury suites in the exclusive Haven development and 'Family of Five' cabins designed to provide affordable accommodation to parents with more than two children.
Cruise aficionados are particularly excited about the ground-breaking 'Waterfront'. This 250m long outdoor boardwalk will boast a signature steakhouse, a Brazilian BBQ, an Italian speciality restaurant and a seafood shack with a raw bar and a sushi stop - all included to reflect the cultural melting pot of New York City. There will also be award-winning entertainment on board in the form of Broadway show 'Rock of Ages'.
For those interested in the best transatlantic cruises, her sister ship - the Norwegian Getaway - will be a big highlight in cruises for 2014.
Princess Cruises' 'Royal Princess' - Summer 2013
This 3600+ passenger ship will be hitting the high seas in June 2013 with a series of 12-night cruises from Barcelona and Venice. Along with the stylish Princess Cruises design, the new ship will feature a stunning marble-swathed piazza and a glass-covered 'Seawalk' that will extend 28 feet over the ship's edge.
There are significant improvements to the on-board accommodation including better bathrooms, pillow-top mattresses, upholstered headboards and bigger TVs. All outside cabins will also have balconies.
The ship is set to have its own TV studio that will be broadcasting daily with a live audience and feature art house films, game shows, murder mystery games, cooking demos and acoustic performances. Guests can also enjoy wrapping up in fleece blankets with a bowl of popcorn to enjoy the poolside cinema: 'Movies Under the Stars'.
