Ayatollah Condemns Boston Blasts, Calls US Hypocritical, Selfish

April 17, 2013

In the wake of Monday's Boston bombings, Iran's Islamic leader said the United States has a selfish, hypocritical and illogical approach to terrorism.

Although the supreme leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, in Tehran condemned the blasts that killed three people and wounded 180 others in Boston, he said Washington is silent in the face of massacres in what he said we innocent Muslim nations, but "wants to set fire to the world when a bomb blasts on its soil," Tehran's Fars News Agency reported Wednesday.

The ayatollah said, "What kind of logic is this that if children and women in Afghanistan and Pakistan are killed by Americans and if the terrorists supported by the U.S., the West and the Zionists cause catastrophes in Iraq and Syria, it wouldn't matter, but if a blast takes place in the U.S. or a Western country, then the whole world should pay the price for it."

Khameini said, "the paradoxical, irrational and bullying" behavior of the U.S. and the West and their disrespect for human principles are taking western civilization towards its end.
