'Breaking Bad' Spinoff for 'Better Call Saul'?

April 10, 2013

U.S. cable television network AMC is considering a "Breaking Bad" spinoff, starring Bob Odenkirk's character Saul Goodman, Deadline.com reported.

"Breaking Bad" stars Bryan Cranston as a terminally ill chemistry teacher who becomes a methamphetamine dealer to support his family after he dies. Goodman is his lawyer in the drama, which is to wrap up its final season this summer.

Deadline said no deals are yet in place for a possible Goodman spinoff, but "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan and series writer-producer Peter Gould are behind the project.

"I would love to see a Saul Goodman spinoff show when it's all said and done," Gilligan told EW.com last November. "I think that would present itself pretty nicely, story-wise.

"While 'Breaking Bad' is by design a show that is finite and limited in its scope -- it's a story of transformation that cannot go on forever -- I think a Saul Goodman show could have great legs. I love the idea of a lawyer who will do anything to avoid going to court. He's always going to settle on the courthouse steps."
