GARDEN GROVE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/08/13 -- Bolstered by faster than average sales of its popular Century Village condominium development, Brandywine Homes has been ranked by the Orange County Business Journal as the ninth top-selling homebuilder in Orange County. With a total of 68 new homes sold in 2012, Brandywine tied with Lennar Corp. on a list that included many of the major players in the home building industry.
"We are proud to be among so many prestigious local and national builders," said Dave Barisic, vice president of sales and marketing at Brandywine Homes, a pioneer of infill development in Southern California. "It's an impressive list."
Rounding out the top ten are:
1. Irvine Pacific LP
2. Shea Homes
3. Taylor Morrison Inc.
4. Standard Pacific Corp.
5. KB Home
6. New Home Co.
7. Brookfield Homes Corp.
8. Christopher Homes
9. Brandywine Homes
10. Lennar Corp.
Sales of new single-family homes and condos were up nearly 3% over 2012, according to the Business Journal, a second straight year of growth.
Brandywine was one of only 11 homebuilders on the list that posted an increase in sales last year. Nine builders experienced decreases and six were new entries to the list.
"It's one more positive sign that the market has turned and the future is bright," said Barisic. "Over the past few years, our number of new home sales has grown steadily to 68 in 2012. We plan to keep up that pace -- perhaps even exceed it -- in 2013 as we expect to open 4 new communities."
All 53 townhomes in Brandywine's popular Garden Grove Century Village development were sold as of early February. That included units still under construction, which was expected to be completed later this month. The community averaged about four home sales a month, a rate almost comparable to pre-recession levels.
