LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 03/06/13 -- For the first in a series of intimate gigs throughout 2013, the Barclaycard Mercury Prize Sessions will welcome nineties sensation Suede and exciting newcomer Palma Violets to the stage on Thursday 7th March at The Hospital Club in London.
The latest Barclaycard Mercury Prize Sessions will take place with the aim of celebrating some of the best live music in the UK. Over the years, a wide range of both established and emerging artists have had the opportunity to play at The Hospital Club venue, with the Mercury Prize Sessions being filmed for Channel 4, bringing fans exclusive footage and interviews with all the artists.
Suede played a pioneering role in starting the Britpop revolution during the early nineties, topping the album charts at the same time. With their new album, 'Bloodsports', due for release next month, Suede will take a break from rehearsing their show at the Alexandra Palace to appear at The Hospital Club.
Complementing the record-breaking nineties band will be indie band Palma Violets who catapulted onto the music scene in 2012. Since then, the south London group have made an appearance on the BBC Sound of 2013 list, cultivating a loyal following of fans. Their much awaited debut album, '180' was released at the end of February 2013, with the band currently appearing as part of the annual NME Awards tour, along with emerging new artists Miles Kane and Django Django.
