CARLSBAD, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/06/13 -- Sterling Global Strategies (SGS), a boutique provider of risk-reducing asset management solutions, is pleased to announce that the Sterling Tactical Rotation Strategy recently eclipsed its 3-year anniversary mark. The Sterling Tactical Rotation Strategy replicates the methodology of the SGS proprietary Sterling Tactical Rotation Index, which can be followed on Bloomberg (STLGSTRR: IND), Google Finance (: STRRTR), and MarketWatch (XX: STRRTR). The strategy seeks to provide investors with positive returns every calendar year, while also attempting to significantly reduce downside risk by incorporating cash as an investible asset class.

Concurrently, Morningstar released their 3-year performance rankings for the ETF Managed Portfolios space, where the Sterling Tactical Rotation Strategy secured the #3 spot out of 428 ETF strategists, returning 14.01% (trailing, gross of fees) for the 3-year period ending 1/31/13. "This comes as no surprise to us, or to our investors," stated Mark Eicker, CIO of Sterling Global Strategies. "What we've been able to provide is an investment strategy that delivers alpha while significantly reducing downside exposure."

The Sterling Tactical Rotation Strategy adheres to a proprietary algorithm that identifies and invests in, on a monthly basis, the top two performing asset classes -- those that are showing the most long-term return potential. The strategy rotates between cash, commodities, REITs, bonds, international and domestic equities. Unique to the Sterling Tactical Rotation Strategy is its determination of cash as an asset class, utilizing up to 100% cash should the algorithm detect downward trends in the near future.

"We are extremely proud of the success that the Sterling Tactical Rotation Strategy has achieved since its early 2010 launch," continued Eicker. "Our intent has always been to address and resolve issues for which Wall Street just could not seem to find solutions. Our executive team believed there had to be a better process to limit downside losses other than simply using asset allocation models. What we've created with the Sterling Tactical Rotation Strategy, is to design an absolute return investment solution that delivers downside protection without the use of derivatives," Eicker continued.

Tactical Rotation Strategies have been gaining in popularity in recent years, providing investors with effective solutions for volatile market environments. The Sterling Tactical Rotation Strategy uses primarily ETFs to make tactical allocation shifts, allowing the managers to leverage the performance attribute of the various asset classes in a timely manner.
