NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 03/05/13 -- Spike TV and Omnigon Communications have announced the launch of the "Bellator MMA" application, designed to offer fans the chance to become 'The 4th Judge' in this co-viewing MMA application.
Bellator MMA takes the second-screen experience to the next level by offering Mixed Martial Art fans a way to be fully immersed into the real-time fights. The application gives the viewers the opportunity to interact with the broadcast by scoring each round using the 26 categories of fighter analytics available. The broadcast team will announce the viewer's votes during the on-air discussion, which will bring the fans "closer to the action than ever before," as said by Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney.
"The Bellator app is truly the first of its kind. It allows our passionate fans to experience the fight as a virtual fourth judge -- creating a level of immersion that's unparalleled in any sport," said Jon Slusser, Senior Vice President, Sports and Multiplatform Events, Spike TV. "We see this second-screen as a game-changer. The results from the app will actually become part of the on-air discussion. There's nothing like that in all of sports television."
"Our partnership with MTV's Interactive team has yielded some really great products, but we feel that the effort for Spike's Bellator app has broken some new ground. It's currently featured on the Apple App Store home page and has to be considered as the best fight-oriented sports app on the market, and one of the best sports apps in general. Our team working really hard on this, Nick Arcuri, Mike Grushin and Bora Nickolic, should be proud of what they've helped produce," said David Nugent, SVP Business Development for Omnigon.
The Bellator MMA application is now free for download on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch or at www.AppStore.com/BellatorMMA.
