VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/27/13 -- Webtech Wireless Inc. (TSX: WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, today announces that Coach Canada a leading Canadian commercial bus line, has achieved a variety of internal targets to monitor vehicle speeds and to improve overall safety and performance using our Quadrant Manager solution in conjunction with real-time road speed and posted speed limit data from INRIX®.
"At Coach Canada, our commitment is to keep our passengers, drivers, and other road users safe by ensuring that no driver speeds while driving a Coach Canada vehicle. Over the past year, we have worked with Webtech Wireless, our drivers, and management to implement a highly reliable system to keep drivers aware of their speeds and provide proactive feedback on performance," says Sarah Pridie, Operations Clerk, Driver and Fleet Monitoring, Coach Canada.
Coach Canada has a policy of speed compliance on every trip and for every driver. Coach Canada uses the Quadrant Manager Speeding Duration Report on a daily basis to report speeding incidents if and when they occur. Monitoring and validating speeds traveled, has been more achievable with the introduction of real-time road speed and posted speed limit data from leading traffic information and driver services provider INRIX. This data is used to generate the highly accurate Posted Speed report based on the actual posted speed limits on the roads each Coach Canada bus travels.
In addition to the Speeding Duration report, Webtech Wireless worked with Coach Canada to implement an audible speeding warning on all Webtech Wireless Mobile Data Terminals installed in every Coach Canada bus. "Drivers want to drive within the speed limit-none want to show up on a Speeding Duration Report" says Sarah. She continues "Drivers like the audible warning so that they can take positive action to stay within the speed limit while there is time to do so, because not only do drivers have to comply with posted road speeds but also company policy which can be more stringent than those enforced by highway authorities"
"We are committed to safety for our customers and their passengers, drivers, and other road users. Coach Canada, with Sarah's guidance, has done an amazing job of changing driver behavior using the systems and reports that we are able to offer through Quadrant Manager and our partnership with INRIX," said Scott Edmonds, President and CEO of Webtech Wireless.
INRIX real-time road speed and posted speed limit data and the Quadrant Manager Speeding Duration Report are available today.
