Snowbirds Auto Connection, a Canadian transport company based out of Toronto, Ontario, will be donating a portion of their profits to Aaron's Apple, a charity dedicated to raising funds for chronically ill children whose families are unable to afford medical treatment.

The company will be donating 50 cents to the charity for every invoice processed beginning March 2. Snowbirds Auto Connection Owner and CEO, Ron Ohayon said he initially became involved with the charity through connections with a close family acquaintance.

"My wife Lisa and I became involved when we discovered our friend's son, Aaron had been diagnosed with Crohn's disease," said Ohayon. "It's really important to us that we help in any way we can. We have been actively involved with the charity since it began and plan to continue our involvement so we can help kids like Aaron get the medication they need to stay well."

Aaron's Apple began in 2010 after Aaron fell ill and was hospitalized. With bills exceeding $40,000 a year, it was clear to his mother and to other individuals that something needed to be done to help families cope with the large medical bills associated with chronic childhood illness.

Aaron's Apple provides direct funding to the SickKids Patient Amenities Fund. The fund provides financial assistance to thousands of families covering a wide range of needs such as transportation, accommodation, childcare, medical supplies and medication.

To assist in raising further funds for the cause, Snowbirds Auto Connection is sponsoring Aaron's Apple's 2nd Annual Caring to the Core Gala to be held Saturday, March 2 at Downsview Park in the Warehouse Event Venue.
