SF Giants Send 8 Players to World Baseball Classic

The Giants are sending eight players to the World Baseball Classic, more than any major-league club except the Milwaukee Brewers. Here are the Giants headed off to the WBC:

--LHP Jeremy Affeldt: Playing for the U.S., which begins pool play March 8 against Mexico in Phoenix.

--RHP Santiago Casilla: Playing for the Dominican Republic, which begins pool play Thursday against Venezuela in San Juan, P.R.

--C Tyler LaTorre: Playing for Italy, which begins pool play Thursday against Mexico in Phoenix.

--OF Angel Pagan: Playing for Puerto Rico, which begins pool play March 8 against Spain in San Juan, P.R.

--RHP Sergio Romo: Playing for Mexico, which begins pool play Thursday against Italy in Phoenix.

--3B Pablo Sandoval: Playing for Venezuela, which begins pool play Thursday against the Dominican Republic in San Juan, P.R.

--2B Marco Scutaro: Playing for Venezuela, which begins pool play Thursday against the Dominican Republic in San Juan, P.R.

--RHP Ryan Vogelsong: Playing for the U.S., which begins pool play March 8 against Mexico in Phoenix.
