NASHVILLE, TN -- (Marketwire) -- 02/27/13 -- Making efforts to improve appearance to enhance the dating experience is a practice that men and women have pursued throughout history, and although trends may have changed the art of the first impression has always remained relevant. In order to place a more detailed analysis on the qualities that people judge others on when looking for a partner, popular dating site Match.com conducted a survey that took place over three years and collected data from more than 5,000 single men and women. A recent Huffington Post article assesses the list of ten qualities that men judge women on that was produced as a result of the survey. While it is most likely not a surprise that a majority of the responses placed an emphasis on appearance, many may not be aware that teeth play such a critical role in the dating process. As a dental professional who has worked in the industry, Warren Melamed highlights the constant attention teeth have received in terms of attractiveness and how we judge others.
The Huffington Post reveals that dental appearance is so important that it was actually the top of men's concerns on the Match.com list. In fact, the quality was noted to account for 58 percent of the responses -- more than hair or fashion choices. Warren Melamed responds, "We all know that a beautiful smile improves attractiveness. First impressions are frequently formed by your teeth."
According to Warren Melamed, not only is the health of our teeth important in matchmaking, but the way we use them is also essential to the process. He explains, "Patti Stanger, the host of Millionaire Matchmaker has noted that one of the first things that her millionaire clients notice is the smile of their potential mates. In addition, reality television programs, such as Extreme Makeover, have increased awareness of what cosmetic dentistry can do for a person's appearance and confidence."
Warren Melamed explains that practicing regular oral hygiene is important for presenting a healthy mouth, but that brushing, flossing and regular dental visits may not always help correct the appearance of teeth. Despite this drawback, he notes that advancements in cosmetic dentistry can help any person struggling with these issues achieve a more desirable appearance. Melamed concludes, "Cosmetic dentistry has come a long way since I began dental practice, and now with the use of veneers, porcelain crowns and cosmetic imaging software, a complete smile makeover is easily attainable."
Warren Melamed is a noted dental professional who is known for his work as the CEO and President of Oral Health Management -- a Tennessee-based LLC. He is also recognized for founding Monarch Dental in Dallas, Texas -- an organization that went public in 1997 and allowed Melamed to take on several roles as Chairman, President and Chief Dental Officer. Although Warren Melamed has made considerable contributions to the health and dental care industry, he is also noted for maintaining charity as a priority and has made numerous efforts to give back to the community through various capacities.
