CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/26/13 -- Jura Energy Corporation ("Jura") (TSX: JEC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Hussain Sultan Al Junaidy and Mr. Akbar Kazmi to the Board of Directors.
The appointments were made to fill vacancies created by the resignations of Mr. Nigel McCue and Mr. Zachary Iscol. The Board thanked Messrs. McCue and Iscol for their contributions to Jura, in particular Mr. McCue, who has served Jura in various capacities since 2006, including as Chief Executive Officer and as Chairman.
Mr. Sultan is a former Group Chief Executive and Board Member of the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) as well as a former Executive Chairman and CEO of Dragon Oil plc, a GBP 2.7 billion market capitalisation upstream oil and gas company listed on the London and Dublin Stock Exchanges. He is Deputy Chairman and a Board Member of Dubai Investments, one of the largest investment groups in the UAE. Mr. Sultan is also a member of the Dubai Economic Council. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a fellow of the Institute of Directors, London. Mr. Sultan graduated from Glasgow University with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and attended the Graduate School of Business at University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Kazmi is a Director of JS Group's Principal Finance Office in Dubai and leads the Middle East and Africa offices. He has a diverse background in finance, private equity and principal finance in a variety of sectors, including Resources and Oil & Gas. He is also a Director of Spud Energy Pty Limited ("Spud") and served as its Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2009. Mr. Kazmi has also worked for Fauji Foundation, Askari Group, LASMO and Citibank. He has an MBA from the Institute of Business administration in Karachi and an MA in Economics from the University of Karachi.
Mr. Sultan was also elected Chairman of the Board, replacing Mr. Stephen Smith, who will remain a director of Jura. Mr. Smith led the Jura Board through the transition following the reverse takeover by Spud in July 2012.
