SAN FRANCISCO, CA and BETHESDA, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 02/13/13 -- The newest Bar Method exercise studio opened today in the heart of Bethesda. This is the first Bar Method in Maryland and the second studio opened by owner Kate Arnold -- her first studio is in DC. Kate is excited to bring the fitness sensation to the thriving Bethesda community.

The Bar Method exercise system merges the principles of isometrics, interval training and dance conditioning while emphasizing sculpting more than other bar workouts by targeting the muscles that play the largest role in changing the shape of the body. Clients around the country appreciate how the method quickly and safely reshapes, burns fat and elongates muscles. This unique combination creates the coveted Bar Method Body characterized by sculpted arms, flat abs, a lifted seat and long, lean thighs.

The Bar Method instructors receive extensive training in healthy patterns of movement and are able to assist with modifications to accommodate all types of client needs including variations for pregnant women. Clients receive personalized instruction and hands-on adjustment to ensure safety and create strong, flexible, aligned bodies.

Bar Method Bethesda owner Kate Arnold took her first Bar Method class in Chicago in 2009 and immediately fell in love with the exercise and how it changed her body, posture and endurance. "My outlook on fitness and health changed because of The Bar Method." Kate trained with Bar Method founder Burr Leonard in 2010 at the flagship San Francisco studio.

Kate has a law degree from Duke Law School and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Prior to becoming a full-time Bar Method studio owner, Kate was an attorney and also worked in recruiting and marketing. Kate lives in Washington, DC and splits her time between the two studios.

The Bethesda studio has a modern, chic ambiance highlighted with white marble, dark wood floors and a deep cherry-blossom pink accent wall. Clients can take class and enjoy the shops and restaurants surrounding the Lionsgate condominium location (7110 Woodmont Avenue). The studio offers 20+ classes / 7 days a week and sells retail items.
