TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/11/13 -- A sexy dinner of samples at Costco? Frisky fishing with your special friend? A heartwarming matinee of "Evil Dead: The Musical?" These are but a few suggestions for thrifty thrills from cost-conscious Canadians to celebrate Valentine's Day on a budget. The penny-pinching planning was the result of a recent poll by, who launched its second annual "Price Drop Love" survey to help Canadians find great, romantic Valentine's Day date options for low or no cost.

While many believe they need to spend a lot of money on lavish dinners and candy, Ottawa has no shortage of economical activities available this Valentine's Day, including the most popular option of a free snuggle and skate on the Rideau Canal, chosen by 34.9% of respondents as their perfect price-dropped romantic rendezvous. Beavertails are optional, ranging from $3.75 to $5.00. Several other inexpensive options also received some love:

-- 21.8% of respondents plan to take advantage of a tantalizing tour of the National Gallery of Canada, free on Valentine's Day-- Car windows are going to be steamed up by 17.2% of survey takers who will spend a no-cost evening at the Rockcliffe Park Lookout.-- What's sexier than snowshoeing? Nothing, at least according to the 15.3% planning to shell out a reasonable $15 per person for some outdoor action at Gatineau Park.-- Another 10.6% prefer to stay warm and close indoors, catching a cozy movie for $9 each in the Balcony of the ByTowne Cinema. What's playing? Who cares??

"Our business is focused on helping Canadians save money on travel, but we like to help them save money in their day-to-day lives as well," said Jamil al Jabri, Marketing Manager at "Money may be tight for many Ottawans, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to enjoy a great Valentine's Day."

Whatever romantic rendezvous you're planning, wishes you a happy Valentine's Day!
