No story to spoil musical journey ; EG Essential Guide nottinghampost.com/entertainment Daily Your daily guide to the county's entertainment scene, with Entertainment Editor Simon Wilson Follow @EG_NottinghamNew Jersey Nights The Royal Concert Hall Tanya Raybould

NEW Jersey Nights celebrates an incredible back catalogue of hits to create a fitting tribute to the Four Seasons and the unmistakable voice of Frankie Valli, who together sold millions of records.

As there is no story acted out the show is not a musical as such, however narration provides a fresh take on a traditional tribute show and helps to remind the audience of the success, history and life of Frankie Valli through this non-stop musical journey.

Focusing instead on the songs, this quality cast has great chemistry and pay stribute to the group's enduring appeal, performing hits such as Big Girls Don't Cry, Rag Doll and Walk Like A Man.

With faultless harmonies and displaying an impressive vocal range, each of the four leads had their moment in the spotlight and took turns to guide the audience through the story of the group, which first hit the charts in 1962 with hit Sherry.

Standout performances include an a cappella version of Silence is Golden and Fallen Angel, dedicated to the two daughters Frankie lost in 1980.

Some jukebox shows can be a little cringe-worthy but overall this slick production doesn't disappoint - either in generating a feel- good factor or in celebrating a golden era of music at its best.

The cast look like they're having a great time whilst interacting with the audience, who were up on their feet from the beginning right through to the vibrant megamix ending.

Throw in some fantastic direction and choreography by Emma Rogers, authentic 1960s-style set and outfits, and all in all New Jersey Nights has the perfect recipe for a cheery fun night out.
