SBA LA Accepting Nominations for 2014 Awards

The U.S. Small Business Administration - Los Angeles District Office in collaboration with the L.A. Chamber of Commerce announced it is accepting nominations for business awards for the 2014 Small Business Person of the Year Award for National Small Business Week.

Applications are due on Jan. 17, 2014.

"The Los Angeles SBA District Office looks forward to honoring local entrepreneurs and business champions in various categories who are contributing to our community and economy," said Victor Parker, the L.A. SBA District Director, said in a news release.

Those looking to nominate someone or themselves should click here. However, most applications will only be accepted via hardcopy. Only the Small Business Person of the Year, Small Business Exporter of the Year, and (8) Graduate of the Year are available for submission online.

A single nomination form for all Small Business Week awards may be submitted to the L.A. SBA District Office via hardcopy and downloaded here.

Local SBA Awards awards are as follows:
Small Business Person of the Year (online or hardcopy application accepted)
Small Business Exporter of the Year (online or hardcopy application accepted)
8(a) Graduate of the Year (online or hardcopy application accepted)
Environmental "Green" Conservator of the Year (hardcopy application accepted)
Innovation Through Technology Business of the Year (hardcopy application accepted)
Family-Owned Business of the Year (hardcopy application accepted)
Young Entrepreneur of the Year (hardcopy application accepted)

Champion Awards
Financial Services Champion of the Year (hardcopy application accepted)
Minority Small Business Champion of the Year(hardcopy application accepted)
Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year (hardcopy application accepted)
Women in Business Champion of the Year (hardcopy application accepted)

Winners of the local Small Business Person of the Year awards and winners in the other award categories will be invited to Washington, D.C., to compete for national titles and to attend National Small Business Week events in 2014.

The Los Angeles SBA District Office serves Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Trade associations, chambers of commerce and business organizations in this tri-county area are encouraged to submit nominations. A business owner and/or business champion may also nominate themselves or other candidates.
