Rosen has significant growth opportunities in various countries with the growing natural gas pipeline industry. Since, the group's operations is highly depended on advanced technology, the availability of skilled labour could be a challenge. Unavailability of skilled labour force could constraint its growth opportunities. Rosen offers a comprehensive portfolio of inspection tools to the oil and gas industry OPPORTUNITIES New contract: Rosen's future operational risks are mitigated through the new service contract that it received. In November 2012 , the group received the contract to inspect Section nine of the APA Group's 34 inch Moomba to Sydney Pipeline (MSP). This inspection will utilise Rosen's Electro Magnetic Acoustic Transducer ( Emat ) technology. Earlier in 2012, the group completed extensive tests and trials on Section three of the MSP. This contract has enabled the group to provide reliable Emat services to pipeline operators in Asia-Pacific region . Furthermore, the group's current R&D activities include, development of elastomers with switchable mechanical properties; development of adaptronic systems; and replacement of complex mechatronic systems by intelligent elastomers. In October 2012 , the group received patent number 8281444 for its new technology. This patent was filed in 2006 and was cleared and issued in October 2012 . Rosen's new products currently under development phase could expand its products and service portfolio in future. Prospective oil storage industry- the US: The group offers various products and services for the oil and gas storage in the US. The oil storage industry in the US is witnessing strong growth due to industrial and infrastructure investments. The oil production in the US has increased over the years. The oil production has grown since fourth quarter of 2011. Such increase in oil production was due to higher output from North Dakota , Texas and federal leases in the Gulf of Mexico . The oil production in first quarter of 2012 stood at 6 million barrels per day (mbpd) for the first time in 14 years. As of March 2012 , working crude oil storage capacity at the Cushing, Oklahoma storage and trading hub was 61.9 million barrels, indicating an increase of 6.9 million barrels (13 per cent) from September 30, 2011 and 13.9 million barrels (29 per cent) from a year earlier. Utilisation of working storage capacity on March 31, 2012 was 64 per cent, an increase from the 53 per cent observed in September 2011 . Growing volumes of US crude oil production, along with a higher level of imports from Canada , has contributed to the record levels of inventories at Cushing . Increased flows of crude oil from these two sources, along with expectations for future increases, have consequently created the need for additional storage at the hub. The higher level of oil inventory coupled with higher utilisation rate has led to higher level of petroleum products. According to the in-house research, the crude oil storage capacity is expected to increase by 16.8 per cent from 50.4 million cubic metres (mcm) in 2011 to 58.9 mcm in 2016. The group could enhance its business operations through this growth potential in the US oil storage industry. Growing natural gas pipeline network: Rosen could expand its business operations with the growing natural gas pipeline network in Malaysia . Natural gas exports from Malaysia increased from 780.1 billion cubic ft (bcf) in 2000 to 1,156.3 bcf in 2011, at an AAGR of 3.6 per cent. During 2012-2020, natural gas exports from Malaysia are expected to increase to 1,443.7 bcf, an AAGR of 2.5 per cent. Malaysia has a well developed natural gas pipeline network. Malaysia's domestic pipeline was developed under multi-phased Peninsular Gas Utilization (PGU) project. Malaysia has an international pipeline, Thailand-Malaysia Gas Pipeline, which helps to transport natural gas from Malaysia-Thailand JDA to Malaysia . Malaysia has around 14 active natural gas pipelines and two planned pipelines with a total length of approximately 3,361 km. The two planned pipelines includes.
