By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Computer Weekly News -- Deposit automation-enabled Opteva(®) automated teller machines (ATMs) from Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) are placing Vantage West Credit Union members in charge of their own transactions in a new tellerless branch. Diebold installed and implemented six ATMs, as well as security solutions, at Vantage West's Tucson, Ariz. newest branch. Diebold is also delivering multiple integrated services to reduce demands on branch staff. "With members managing many transactions on their own, our representatives will have more time to help those members requiring additional services," said Jamie Hernandez , branch vice president and regional manager, Vantage West. "We're delivering more personalized service, while also promoting efficient self-service banking, to enhance members' experiences in an open, inviting branch." The deposit automation-enabled Opteva ATMs allow Vantage West's members to complete envelope-free deposits. Members insert cash and checks into the ATM and follow intuitive prompts to complete transactions, walking away with detailed receipts featuring images of deposited checks. Vantage West is welcoming members of other credit unions to complete transactions via a CO-OP NextGen ATM shared branching terminal operating on Diebold's Agilis® software. The ATM allows members of participating CO-OP Shared Branching credit unions to access their accounts from the branch. "Vantage West has consistently adopted advanced solutions to improve member services," said Mychal D. Kempt , vice president, North America operations, Diebold. "From deposit automation to a tellerless branch to shared branching at the ATM, the credit union is transforming its branches into more efficient environments for members. This type of technology will allow the credit union to differentiate themselves within the marketplace." Enhancing security for the Tucson branch, Diebold installed access control solutions and intrusion and fire alarms. The company is monitoring these systems from its award-winning Monitoring Center. In addition, Diebold's integrated services will enhance security and promote Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance for Vantage West's ATMs by maintaining up-to-date anti-virus software and security patches on the terminals.
