Springsteen 'Born to Run' manuscript for sale

NEW YORK (AP) -- A handwritten working manuscript of Bruce Springsteen's 1975 hit "Born to Run" will be offered at auction Thursday in New York.

Sotheby's said Wednesday the presale estimate is $70,000 to $100,000.

The seller wasn't revealed. Sotheby's said the document had been in the collection of Springsteen's former manager, Mike Appel.

Sotheby's says most of the lines in this 1974 version are apparently unpublished and unrecorded. However, the manuscript does include "a nearly perfected chorus."

It's written in blue ink, on an 81/2-by-11-inch sheet of ruled notepaper.

The document will be part of a Manhattan sale of fine books and manuscripts. It was written in Long Branch, N.J.

Marathon bombing affected 'American Hustle'

NEW YORK (AP) -- While shooting in Boston, David O. Russell found his film "American Hustle" caught up in the Boston Marathon bombing.

When the city was essentially shut down for the manhunt for suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev in April, the production -- which had been shooting in the area -- had to be stopped for a day. The experience, Russell says, was felt closely by the filmmaking crew and actors.

"It was hanging over us the whole time," Russell said in a recent interview.

"You just end up feeling the emotion and the strength of the community around you," said the director. "It just makes you more human, really, because you end up having a very human connection with, literally, everyone around you. I mean, everyone, strangers on the street. Everybody was moved and pulled together by that tragedy."

"American Hustle" is a fictionalized version of the Abscam sting operation conducted by the FBI in the late 1970s.

Andrew Young at odds with MLK's children

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s family and one of his former top aides, Andrew Young, have been united for decades by a common goal -- protecting the legacy of the slain civil rights leader.

But now a lawsuit threatens that bond over a bitter point of legal contention: Who has rights to King's words and images?

The conflict centers on a lawsuit filed by King's sons, who control their father's estate. The lawsuit includes a request that Young be removed from the board of directors of a nonprofit devoted to his memory over allegations he used footage of King in a documentary without permission.

Young disagrees about his use of footage in which he and King both appear. He says he also has a right to King's legacy.

Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher finalize divorce

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are officially divorced.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon finalized the couple's split on Tuesday, roughly a year after Kutcher sought to end the couple's marriage.

Moore and Kutcher were married in September 2005 and the actress announced they had separated in November 2011.

The former couple has no children together. During their marriage, they started a foundation to combat sexual exploitation of girls around the globe.

Kutcher stars in "Two and a Half Men" and is currently dating his "That '70s Show" co-star Mila Kunis.

Moore starred in 2011's "Margin Call" and appears in the upcoming film "Very Good Girls." She was previously married to Bruce Willis and the pair had three daughters.

The judgment was first reported Wednesday by celebrity website TMZ.
