By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Computer Weekly News -- AMCAD, a leading provider of software solutions to courts, jails, prosecutors, probation, county clerks, recorders offices, and other government agencies, announced that its integrated Case Management System (AiCMS) successfully went into production in the Superior Court of the United States Virgin Islands. The Superior Court of the Virgin Islands is the trial court in the territory, which includes St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John. The Court handles over 35,000 cases per year and is comprised of Family Court, Criminal Court, Civil Court, Small Claims Court, Traffic Court, Probate Court, and the Probation and Marshal divisions.
AMCAD was carefully chosen by the Superior Court to implement the AMCAD integrated Case Management System (AiCMS); the AMCAD integrated Capture System; AMCAD's business intelligence solution, (ROAM); ACCEPT, AMCAD's electronic commerce solution; and AMCAD's eUniversa electronic filing solution. The implementation of AiCMS brings about significantly improved efficiency for processing of court records in a virtually paperless environment through a robust document management solution and electronic filing functionality. Additionally, AiCMS provides accounting and audit controls that improve revenue collection and also supports required reporting.
The implementation of ROAM, ACCEPT, and eUniversa will allow the Court and its citizens to benefit from the fully integrated suite of AMCAD's software solutions. ROAM will provide a single source for all records of the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands and will provide access to court information to the public via the internet. In addition, AMCAD's eUniversa electronic filing solution will eliminate the need to file documents at the physical courthouses, and will significantly streamline the case process.
"The technological solutions being implemented will permit our Virgin Islands community to access court records through the web from the comfort of their offices or homes and permit court users and litigants to electronically file documents with the Court," said Attorney Venetia Velazquez, Clerk of the Court. "We are certainly excited to improve our ability to serve the public, enhance the public's access to justice through greater efficiency, and bring the Court in line with contemporary courts across the nation."
"We are pleased with another successful implementation of AiCMS and another demonstration of the outstanding capabilities of AMCAD's suite of software solutions. I am proud to bring our premier technology and services to the Virgin Islands to drive greater effectiveness and efficiency for all citizens," said Visagar Shyamsundar, AMCAD's Chief Executive Officer.
