"We are in the business to supply product," McCullough said. "By training our employees we can utilize the full potential of the software we use and reduce our cost. It also benefits the employee by giving them an increased knowledge of how the company works as a whole."
The employees will receive training on the E2 Shoptech program, which is an all inclusive business operations software that handles customer orders from start to finish, including scheduling, purchasing, shipping, accounting and even customer management. The second software is SigmaNEST, the world's leading CAD/CAM nesting system for all major cutting, punching, and bending machines. McIntyre Metals manufacturers custom displays, literature holders, merchandisers, counter top racks and retail point-of-purchase displays.
McCullough says that keeping up with the latest technology is essential to keeping competitive in the business world today.
"Just about everything today runs off of computers," McCullough said. "At least four of our six departments have a primary computer component. The point of the training is to realize the full use of our machines as well as our employees."
"The intent is for the employee to gain skills that will help them in the current job and to make them a marketable employee elsewhere," Maness said.
"At the end of the day, this is about taking advantage of an opportunity to expand the skills that our employees bring into the workplace each day and is another example of us building on our commitment to our customers to provide the highest quality products available," McIntyre said.
Maness said today's competitive workforce businesses must stay on the cutting edge of technology, which requires employees who are capable and confident in their abilities and knowledge.
"In this economy, continued education is critical," Maness said. "You can't complete training and say I'm done. It is a life long learning process. If you don't embrace it, you will struggle to keep pace in the future."
