The European shares plummeted to close in red colors ahead of this week`s monetary policy meeting by the U.S. Federal Reserve amid expectations policymakers may start to tapering stimulus this month. In fact the Fed begins a two-day meeting on Tuesday to decide monetary policy to the end of January. After the central bank refrained from tapering its $85 billion per month of money creation in September, as some expected, many analysts think the Fed will announce a cut to its bond-buying program this week. CAC 40 Index The French index fell 51.24 points or 1.24% to finally close at 4068.64. The index started the session at 4100.01 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 4100.01 and its lowest level at 4068.64. The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the Technip SA share as it plummeted 4.54% to end at €67.00, following is the Vinci SA share as it shed 2.74% to settle at €44.68. DAX Index German equities retreated today as the benchmark index DAX 30 closed the session lower by 78.44 points or 0.86% at 9085.12. The index started the session at 9142.75 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 9161.80 and its lowest level at 9085.12. The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the HeilderbergCement AG share as it plummeted 2.07% to end at €53.83, following is the E.ON.SE share as it shed 1.67% to settle at €12.96. FTSE 100 Index The British benchmark index ended the day lower to settle at 6486.19 with a loss of 36.01 points or 0.55%. The index started the session at 6522.20 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 6522.20 and its lowest level at 6482.59. The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the BP Plc share as it plummeted 1.73% to end at £465.00, following is the HSBC Holdings PLC share as it shed 0.99% to settle at £647.00.
