Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday said that Foreign Exchange Reserves have increased by 500 million dollar this week and current reserves are 3.4 billion dollars . Talking with media outside the Parliament, he said, Foreign Exchange Reserves of $290 billion being quoted in the press was the figure of last week not the current week. To a question, the Minister said no proposal was under consideration to increase gas tariff for domestic consumers. "The government has no plan to increase gas tariff for domestic and private consumers such reports are totally wrong and misunderstand" he added. To a question, the Minister said the government would pay compensation to Truck association within the agreed time. The Minister said during the meeting of November 17 with truck association, he has promised to pay compensation amount to them before December 31 . He said after the death of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto trucks were set on fire by the protesters and the previous government had agreed to pay Rs. 242 million to them as compensation. He regretted that PPP had not fulfill the promise but the present government would honour the agreement with truck association. To a question he said the government will fulfill its all commitments made in the elections by the leadership of PML-N. He said soon after assuming the charge, the government has paid circular debt. About the gas loadsheeding, he said, previous government has not focussed on this sector. He said the government had generated 14,000 mw electricity in very short time and next three and half year the total generation would be increased to 2200 mw. No plan to scale up gas prices for domestic consumers: Ishaq Dar : Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said government has no plan to raise gas prices for domestic consumers. "Supplying gas to all domestic consumers is among top priorities of government. However no proposal is under consideration to enhance rates for domestic sector", he said this while talking to media men outside parliament house Friday. He went on to say that erstwhile government was pursuing auto policy and nothing was there to determine which is right and which is wrong. Regarding Prime Minister Youth loan scheme he said this scheme has been launched under a plan and government has financial resources to run this scheme. He dispelled the impression that government is using this scheme as slogan for local bodies elections. Government stands by its stance on making payments to owners of containers engaged in NATO supply in the event of any loss to them, he said adding such payments will be made to them before December, 31. He said government would take power production to 22000 megawatts within the next four to five years.
